Problem: You write well and have great ideas, but you’re struggling to craft a book that meets the expectations of a competitive market.
Solution: Work with a book coach who will teach you how to create a compelling and cohesive narrative that resonates with readers.
Hi! I’m Sara Gentry - Math Ph.D. turned Author Accelerator certified book coach for fiction, memoir, and nonfiction book writers.
I have a knack for integrating the creative with the analytical, which makes me an ideal ally for writers who have a way with words but need support with structure, book logic, and market awareness.
My mathematical training developed my logical skills and argumentative reasoning, so I help writers organize their ideas, improve the logical flow of their narratives, and create cohesive books.
Years of teaching university classes and educating my own children have taught me how to adapt concepts to an individual’s needs and personality.
I know what it means to live a creative life while working in another field. I have played the piano since I was five years old, and I earned a BA in music along with a BS in mathematics as an undergraduate.
I use my rich background and coaching superpowers to work for you!
"Sara provided detailed suggestions for improving my narrative and overall story structure and described possibilities for my story that I had yet to see. Because of her feedback the end result will be a stronger story. I learned a lot and appreciate having had the opportunity to work with her."
— Phyllisann, travel fiction writer
Webinars, DIY programs, and how-to-write books are great, but they can only get you so far.
I offer group coaching and private coaching options to writers who are ready to make significant progress on their books.
Novel Resolution
Novel Resolution is a group coaching program that guides writers through the process of writing or revising a novel in one year.
This program is ideal for writers who are ready to take a more conscientious approach to writing a novel suitable for today’s market. Both experienced and new writers join the program, and book projects span commercial genres (NO erotica and horror) and markets (adult, YA, and middle grade).
In Novel Resolution, you will:
receive written, personalized feedback on the foundational elements of your novel so that you know if your story idea is strong and cohesive
learn the strategies I use with my private coaching clients through quick, on-demand lessons so that you have the tools you need without sacrificing too much writing time
ask questions and receive answers specific to your book during group Q&A calls so that you have book coaching support the entire year
stay accountable through weekly check-ins (with prizes!) and virtual write-along sessions so that you WRITE and FINISH
Novel Resolution opens for a limited time every January. Participants remain in the program through December of the same calendar year.
Novel Resolution: $1000 for the year (or 3 monthly payments of $350 each)
Small-Group Workshop
I offer small-group coaching in 4-week workshops:
Book Development (for writers with an undeveloped idea)
Book Breakthrough (for writers who are stuck)
Revision Bootcamp (for novel writers with a completed manuscript or proposal)
Intensives are limited to 3-5 writers, so each writer receives plenty of attention. There are weekly assignments and group coaching calls on Zoom. Writers take turns in the “hot seat” and receive written feedback on their work.
Small-Group Workshop: $600 per writer
Private Coaching
I work with a limited number of writers one-to-one. Not every writer is ready for this level of commitment, but if you are*, I invite you to apply for private book coaching. All new private coaching clients begin with my “First Step” service.
*When I speak of commitment, I’m not referring to a writer’s experience level, so please do not feel intimidated if you are a new writer! Private coaching demands a commitment of time, energy, and resources that some writers are not prepared to invest.
What’s included in “First Step”: an evaluation of your Mini Blueprint (one of my favorite Author Accelerator tools, thanks to its efficiency!), developmental feedback on up to ten pages of your manuscript, a private coaching call, and an editorial letter that identifies three actionable next steps to help you move forward with confidence.
After completing “First Step,” we will discuss a book coaching plan if you are ready to continue.
Private Coaching First Step: $300
(Beyond “First Step,” private coaching clients typically invest $3000-5000 per year, broken into smaller payments collected with each deadline.)
