You need more than well-written sentences to craft a book that connects with readers.
You know you’re a good writer, so why are you having so much trouble writing a good book?
The hard truth: having a way with words is not the same as knowing how to turn your ideas into a book readers love.
Hi! I’m Sara Gentry - Math Ph.D. turned Author Accelerator certified book coach for fiction, memoir, and nonfiction book writers.
I help writers structure their ideas into a cohesive and compelling narrative that resonates with their audience.
"Sara provided detailed suggestions for improving my narrative and overall story structure and described possibilities for my story that I had yet to see. Because of her feedback the end result will be a stronger story. I learned a lot and appreciate having had the opportunity to work with her."
— Phyllisann, travel fiction writer
Webinars, DIY programs, and how-to-write books are great, but they can only get you so far.
I offer two kinds of book coaching solutions to help you take your next step as a writer.
Novel Resolution
Novel Resolution is a group coaching program that guides writers through the process of writing or revising a novel in one year.
This program is ideal for writers who are ready to take a more conscientious approach to writing a novel suitable for today’s market. Both experienced and new writers join the program, and book projects span commercial genres (NO erotica and horror) and markets (adult, YA, and middle grade).
In Novel Resolution, you will:
receive written, personalized feedback on the foundational elements of your novel so that you know if your story idea is strong and cohesive
learn the strategies I use with my private coaching clients through quick, on-demand lessons so that you have the tools you need without sacrificing too much writing time
ask questions and receive answers specific to your book during group Q&A calls so that you have book coaching support the entire year
stay accountable through weekly check-ins (with prizes!) and virtual write-along sessions so that you WRITE and FINISH
Novel Resolution opens for a limited time every January. Participants remain in the program through December of the same calendar year.
Investment: $1000 for the year (or 3 monthly payments of $350 each)
Intensives
Intensives are designed to help you make significant progress on your book (novel, memoir, or nonfiction book proposal) in a matter of weeks. They are demanding, but offer great benefits by minimizing your overwhelm, helping you gain clarity, and giving your project fresh energy.
I offer both small group and private coaching intensives. Both formats include written feedback on your work and weekly coaching calls.
I require all Intensive writers to submit an application. If I think we could be a good fit to work together, I will invite you to join me in a free consultation call. If I am not a good fit for your project, I will be happy to refer you to one of my talented book coaching colleagues who may be a better match.
Six-Week Intensive
For writers who have NOT completed their novel, memoir, or book proposal: Solidify the most important elements of your book so that you know how to proceed, whether you’ve already written a hundred pages or none at all. The deep work you do will save you time (potentially years) and energy by ensuring your ideas are cohesive and strong. At the end of this intensive, you will have clear direction on what you need to do next so that you can finish drafting your manuscript or proposal.
-OR-
For writers who have completed their novel, memoir, or book proposal: Create a revision plan by diagnosing the big-picture issues in your manuscript or proposal. You will learn how to tackle large-scale revision so that you can apply the same approach to future projects as well. At the end of this intensive, you will have a clear strategy for your revision so that you can continue to prepare your book for publication.
Investment: $1500 (small group) or $3000 (private)
Four-Month Intensive
The four-month intensive is designed for writers who want to complete a deep revision of their manuscript or write a full book proposal in four months. We’ll start by addressing big-picture and structural issues. Then you’ll have several deadlines in which you can submit pages for developmental editing twice per month. At the end of this intensive, your manuscript or proposal will be cohesive, compelling, and better prepared to enter today’s competitive market.
The Four-Month Intensive is only available as a private book coaching option.
