Does your homeschool need a recharge?
Earlier this week, we took advantage of the warm day and went to the zoo. When we were done, we joined my hubby at home and raked leaves. My kiddos were excited to do both. In order to make this happen, I lightened our "academic" work (just 3 tasks per kid). The kids finished their work without whining because they were motivated to get to the fun stuff!
I know every day can't be like this (for starters, I doubt we have any more 60-degree days this fall), but sometimes it's great to give everyone a boost by doing something unexpected. It doesn't have to be complicated, expensive, or pre-planned. It could be lunch at a favorite fast food restaurant, a trip to the local bookstore, or a surprise movie-at-home afternoon. Anything that provides a little pick-me-up can do wonders for everyone's moods and work ethics.
I'll be upfront in saying that 2021 has been mentally and emotionally challenging for me. I know my mood rubs off on everyone else in my house, so infusing short moments of fun has been a lifesaver. Over the past year, we've started many a school day by playing a board game. We've enjoyed listening to funny audiobooks during lunch, and I'm trying to give my kids lots of space and time to pursue their own interests.
I know I'm not alone in saying 2021 has been a rough year, and I have been thinking of ways I can better serve busy homeschooling moms. One of those ways is to make homeschool coaching accessible to more people. As such, I've updated my homeschool coaching page. In addition to private coaching, I am now offering small group coaching if you care to form a group of your friends in order to share the cost. You can find more details about my services here.
I’m also working on some new options to be released in 2022. To make sure you don’t miss out on any future releases and upcoming new content, you can subscribe to my homeschooling weekly email newsletter.
