Let’s talk about homeschooling groups…
We're entering the period of spring sign-ups, so I thought it would be a good time to talk about group programs that supplement your homeschool. Common options include in-person co-ops, group classes taught by local businesses, programs offered through the local school system, small groups of friends that meet in homes, and online memberships and classes.
By no means do you need to join a group program, and I would never suggest that anyone "should" try one. Only your family can decide what's a good choice for your situation. There are perks to being part of a group program, but there are other aspects that may not be so great. Everything is a balance of time, money, and freedom, and deciding which factors are most important to your family.
I'm going to do an email series throughout February that covers the basics of homeschooling groups. I'll cover the pros and cons of groups, types of groups, what questions to ask before committing to a group, and when you might want to pass.
If you want to know more about a specific aspect of homeschooling groups, submit your questions using my contact form and I will try to address them in my February series.
In the meantime, January and February are typically rough months for homeschoolers. Many of us are spending more time indoors and we're in the mid-year slump slogging through curriculum. If you haven't already done so, grab my free Busy Moms Rock Homeschooling Guide to help you make some adjustments. Want more personalized help? I offer private homeschool coaching sessions.
